Anhedonia

Dear students,  A big thank you to everyone for keeping me in their prayers and your wishes. It has been one of the toughest times personally for me last couple of weeks. It has been short of nothing, feels likes have faced a lot and recovering one at a time from COVID. The virus has literally broken through each of defences to finally target the emotional mantle around me. Dad was affected by COVID first.  He wasn't affected much -  with minimal involvement in CT and a derangement in the lab values had just to keep in observation due to co-morbid conditions was admitted. Mom had slight symptoms and was in home care. Beginning of May myself started having symptoms and tested positive -  Inflammatory markers were bit off the chart by the end of 5th day and bit of shortness of breath.  Took a CT -  The ground glass opacities in my Lung CT when i sneaked to see in the console was disturbing. Radiologist had reported 20% involvement with CORADS 5.  Was admitted in the hospital as per the pulmonologist advice and was given treatment. Wife was carrying a term baby - she was tested positive as well. The gynaecologist - did a C section so nothing happens to both. Her CT scan also showed 15% involvement. RTPCR and swabs were done for the newborn as well and luckily turned negative. End of May 1st week is when I broke, i literally broke. Dad is a different hospital, mom at home isolation, myself nd wife in a different hospital and the newborn with us - helpless we were to able not to shower the love which I should have. Sleepless nights, emotionally and physically shaken having to manage so many things with waves of depression and hopelessness pushed through each day - Was discharged from hospital yesterday finally. Things are settling down, things aren't so gloomy as it used to be, things are hopefully becoming better. As on date health wise recovering though not sure about the mental scar COVID has left me with - To all my loved students, please take care - the virus hits us hard, it's a matter of time and hopefully we will sail out of this together. !  A decision made when i was not able to decide if i will see thru it on the other side, whatever revenue the app generates a part of it will go to govt hospitals and education to provide basic needs from now till the end of time !  My sincere prayers for each and every one of you and your family. Stay safe. Anhedonia persists, but I hope to come out of it soon.  We shall resume our tests soon.

Notification

Hello all,It's been a very tough time for me personally. This COVID has shaken up totally. All of us at home are positive. As of now doing good, dad is being admitted. Rest are fine for time being. My sincere apologies - will not be able to update the tests for next 2 weeks.  Need your prayers to come out of this i good shape. Stay safe please. To ambassadors - things ll be sorted once i get back. Thank you.

Difficult times - What to do ?

Q - A student asked this question  -  I have not worked for the past year have been studying. I want to study for next 2 months also. But seeing this situation I feel like I want to help the country.  So what do it do ?A - A very genuine query. I wanted to start this with a quote by one of the famous philosopher Cooley "I am not who you think I am; I am not who I think I am; I am who I think you think I am ''Give it a break and read the above once again slowly. We all live in a paradox, trying to fill the shoes of what others think about us. Let's break down the students scenario. Troubles in a young medicos mindI want to study, I feel if i don't work -  others will tell that I am heartless and only studying not helping the country.I want to work, but I feel if i don't study - others will tell last one year you studied and but this 2 months you left the study, so you did not score well.  So, what do the student do now. Battling within one self if very stressful and chaotic, it will affect the mental peace and you will not be able to do anything.  Your priority finds its way, your priority is what your heart is in always remember that - you will any day find time to do stuff you think is important. The answer for the student is hidden in the question. The student is worried about the prep and want to study -  That's the heart and that's the students priority. So what to do about the guilt of not helping ?? Your priority is preparing for NEET PG -  6-7 hours of prep is good enough ? I am pretty much sure it will be more than enough. Add to it 7 hours of sleep and 2 hours of free leisure time. 16 hours is done in a day already.  So can you spare 2 hours for patients to help them out in the remaining 8 hours ? I am sure everyone can. So what can one do during the time ?Majority of the patients are in home isolation and there is a chaos and misdirection for most of them, so helping the patients with a phone call for 2 hours a day that will more than enough. Inform your friends & family  - that you will be taking care of queries from this time to the next. Schedule your calls. Schedule 6-7 calls per hour - 15 calls per day in 2 hours. Spend time and talk to them.Helping 15 patients a day is more than enough help you are doing and dedicating your time to overcome the crisis Do not ever try to satisfy the society. If you think you have done a good job, that's enough. ! The society will tell -  Do the same for 4 hours, do the same for 6 hours. They may even say do it for more than 24 hours. You can never satisfy everyone !This is for students who think studying is a priority. Let's fight this together and we shall overcome this together ! Best wishes
